I have always loved this quote by Brian Dyson the Chairman of Coca Cola from 1959-1994 as it is very thought provoking and I always get the parents I work with privately, to print it off and to put it somewhere prominent where they can see it regularly to remind them of the balls they don’t want to scuff, mark or damage.
“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends, and spirit – and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.”
This week’s Parent Coaching Question is ……
What am I hating, tolerating, or resenting about the current state of my life at the moment?
Make a list of them all.
Now pick just one to make a small change to just for THIS WEEK, and let me know how you get on 🙂
