Inspired by George Clooney’s latest film, The Descendents, which features a difficult father-daughter relationship, family expert Sue Atkins has been answering your questions and making suggestions about how members who have posted on our Parents of Teens message board may find a way forward. The following message was posted by community member sittingpretty recently:
“I’m really struggling with my 14-year-old right now, don’t really know how to handle her. I don’t know how to sum her up in a few lines, but basically she makes the simplest of things, complicated. She’s a very demanding child and I am forever trying to compromise, over the most trivial of things. Unfortunately she doesn’t do compromise, it’s her way or not at all.”
