Having a new baby is very exciting but your older child may worry about what all the changes may mean to them as for the last year or two they have probably been the centre of your universe so it’s a good idea to prepare them for this exciting new arrival.

Pregnancy Preparations

Tip 8 – Ask visitors to your house or the hospital to pay attention to your older child first – as the baby actually doesn’t mind being second in line at this time, but your older child will feel special, nurtured and their self esteem and self confidence will be riding high not damaged by the new arrival.

Simply just ask your visitors to give your older child a hug first.

Another simple little tip is to:

Give a Gift from Your New Baby To Their Older Brother or Sister. Before  your baby is born , wrap a few small gifts and reserve them for your older child so when you’re in  the hospital you can say “Look what baby Jack has bought for you”  It will encourage sharing and a positive start to their relationship.
