Having a new baby is very exciting but your older child may worry about what all the changes may mean to them as for the last year or two they have probably been the centre of your universe so it’s a good idea to prepare them for this exciting new arrival.

Tip 5. Play games and role play.
Remember, children under 3 are normally egocentric which means they only think of themselves.
So play games using dolls , like Baby Annabell or Baby Born to help them understand what a new baby needs and play games around changing their nappy, feeding them when they cry, or holding them gently.
Use this opportunity to prepare your child with the language they need to understand what to expect so deliberately act out scenes to help your child by saying “Tiny babies need feeding a lot,” or “Mummy will carry the baby, just like I did with you.” “Let’s put the baby to bed to have a nap.” “Can you help me bath the baby – what do we need to get out?”
