Having a new baby is very exciting but your older child may worry about what all the changes may mean to them as for the last year or two they have probably been the centre of your universe so it’s a good idea to prepare them for this exciting new arrival.
Here’s my Amazon best selling book “Parenting Made Easy – How To Raise Happy Children” which is bursting with lots more of my tips and ideas.
Sibling Showdown & Meltdown ! Even if you do everything I’ve just suggested, your child will still act up at times. These problems are a normal part of becoming an older sibling. Here’s how to tackle them:
Tip 19 I love you like the sunshine – equally.
You can avoid the “who’s best” trap or the “Who do you love more, me or the baby?”, by simply saying, “I love you both in special and different ways.”
Teach your child that love is like sunshine: Sharing the sun doesn’t mean you get less, and love shines on everyone equally.
Help your older child perceive that they are loved in an individual way, such as “You are my first child, and no one else will ever be my first child.”
