Don’t you just love coincidences !

I was just reading my text message telling me that Tesco would be delivering my groceries in an hour when BBC Radio Coventry asked me to talk about Tesco’s new sweeter broccoli to encourage kids to eat it !

Convincing your children to eat their greens isn’t always easy is it ?- so the supermarket chain Tesco  have  tweaked a version of the renowned superfood – which can surpress the growth of breast cancer tumours – to make it not only sweeter but also packed with more flavour, especially in the stalk.

Jeni Gray, the Tesco buyer in charge of brassica plants, said: ‘Broccoli is one of the most nutritionally beneficial of all foods, but sometimes getting children to eat it can be hard work.

‘Finding a sweeter-tasting green – especially broccoli – that is likely to be enjoyed by kids has long been a mission for vegetable producers.

‘We think that this new sweet variety of broccoli, which is grown in Scotland, will prove to be a real hit not only with kids but also with parents.’

What do you think ? A step tooooo far to make kids eat their vegetables?

How do you get your kids to eat their 5 a day ?

I’d love to hear your thoughts !
