The Sue Atkins Weekly Parent Coaching Question

I have been working this morning with a lovely Mum going through a divorce and she arrived looking nervous, anxious and very stressed.

We talked about where she was at the moment in her situation – she said she felt trapped, overwhelmed and stuck but after an hour with me she felt more hopeful as I helped her to start focusing more importantly, on where she wanted to go ….. which she hadn’t thought of creating

Going through a divorce, separation or a break up isn’t always easy – in fact it is extremely stressful and challenging but with a little clarity, direction and self belief you can come through this process with dignity, respect and confidence.

As you know I have written many articles on this subject to help and I  have a Successful Separation Programme for people to work personally with me, or my “How to handle divorce positively” CD and Workbook to download to make the transition as pain free and positive as possible for you, your children and for your family as a whole.

So the first question I asked my client was:
If I could wave a magic wand for you right now, what would you like me to change for you?

Then I asked her to imagine she was talking to me exactly one year later and to tell me in great detail where she was, what she was doing, who she was with, where she was working, what were her kids doing ……. what had changed in her life.

Then we walked her Time Line outside in my sunny garden over looking the Surrey countryside.

She went off hopeful, full of small steps of action to take this week and less overwhelmed, stressed and anxious.

She smiled and  I smiled too …as she’s on her way to a new, more empowered, compelling future …………
