Don’t Stew – Ask Sue Parenting Q & A

Q. Hey sue, I'm a step mother and I'm struggling with my boyfriend’s 3-year-old daughter. She won't behave for me when I watch her alone. I don't have children of my own but often watch her and if I tell her to stop doing something and she says "nope" I put her on the naughty step. She won't stay on it. She laughs then gets angry and spits at me and kicks me. So, I tell her she's not moving from the naughty step and ask her why she thinks she’s on the naughty step to which she just spits at me again. Megan
