Don’t Stew – Ask Sue Parenting Q & A
Disciplining other people’s children is tricky. Parents can be protective of their own kids, and take a personal affront when others discipline their kids. Clear communication is the key. Here are some guidelines to help:
House rules apply. Make sure their kids stick by your rules in your house.
Deal with misbehaviour directed at you.
Check with the other parent if you are unsure if their child’s behaviour is inappropriate.
Keep your discipline in line with methods generally acceptable in child-care centres and schools.
