Sue Atkins In Conversation With ‘Mr Behaviour’ Ben Povey
‘Educating Greater Manchester’ is the fifth in the series of the BAFTA award-winning British documentary television programme ‘Educating’ broadcast on Channel 4. It is a warm and honest exploration of life at Harrop Fold secondary school in Salford.
CHANNEL 4’S ‘Educating Greater Manchester’ series is a fly-on-the wall look at Harrop Fold School & they have just finished recording Series 2 at the school and today I’m delighted to welcome Ben Povey Attitude to Learning Co-ordinator at Harrop Fold School.
Harrop Fold, was a school whose pupils were once described as “intimidating, rowdy and unruly” by Ofsted.
The school had gone through five head teachers in as many terms, and was under special measures but it has been turned around by ‘Team Harrop’ under the inspiring leadership of the Povey brothers and it is an inspirational story of adversity moving towards a more positive look at life, through the heart of a changing community in Salford.
It features the challenges of students growing up in the 21st century in a tough environment, as well as the challenges faced by teachers, who dedicate their lives to helping them.
In this fascinating interview I ask Ben Povey …. Why was Harrop Fold School in Little Hulton chosen for Educating Greater Manchester, what was it like having cameras watching your every move and how does he manage the daily challenges of working with teenagers in school?
