It’s ok… by Jodie Greenslade

It’s ok… is a beautiful, short story with the focus being on the changes in the world right now. Children see the world through very different eyes to us grown-ups and let’s face it, the world is a pretty scary place for us let alone our children. It’s ok… has been written to help young primary school-aged children to understand that it’s ok to actually not be ok. It’s ok to feel strange and odd and like the grown-ups are all acting funny. These feelings are all normal feelings, however, what’s important is that you talk about them. Talk to your children, help them to understand what is going on, and help them to understand the reason behind all our hand washing and social distancing. This book gives you a wonderful opportunity to sit and read together….please use it as a conversation starter!

There has never been a more important time to keep your children talking!

I’m a 37-year-old wife and mum of 2 from Newport in South Wales. I am a teaching assistant at a local primary school currently working with reception-age children (4-5 years old) My eldest daughter who is now 13 suffers from anxiety so she was my inspiration behind this book.  She understands better now as she is older but one afternoon I was thinking back and wondering how she would deal with all this had the pandemic happened when she was younger.

Both my children are inspirations for me to write and they have both helped my next project.  Lockdown gave me the chance to reflect and write and for that I am grateful.
