Evie: The Small Garden by Giovanna Cicero

Evie is a curious two year old, who loves her garden. As she walks around it she describes all the different things she can see, from an apple tree to the garden mirror. The fun and joy she feels from nature and her surroundings will inspire other children to look, learn and share her delight in their everyday lives.

My family has supported my vision for this book, the relationship between brother and sister is the most endearing relationship ever as we collaborated working on the book with Evie’s help. Exploring and learning from nature outdoors is crucial for children’s physical, and emotional development. It can help develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills and empathy. I had worked in the bank Industry for over 30 years, but watching my little niece exploring my garden in my North London home, inspired me to write The Small Garden.

My own pleasure in spending time in the garden, watching everything growing and changing with the seasons, motivated me to create my first children’s book – with Evie’s help!
