The Sue Atkins Wednesday Parenting Story To Ponder
Posted by: Sue Atkins
I was teaching my Confidence Classes for Kids After School Club yesterday and here is a story I always tell the kids.
Why People Like Clowns
“Why do people like me?” asks the clown.
“It is because I make people laugh?”
“They enjoy laughing certainly,” says his friend.
“Or is it my colourful clothes, large shoes and big smile?”
“They enjoy those too.”
“But you don’t think that’s the only reason?”
His friend pauses………and then speaks.
“The real reason people like you is this: you always get up.”
“Whatever crisis has occurred, however hard you’ve been knocked over or sent tumbling, you always get up! With you the story’s never over. Whatever the disaster, you get back and have another go so the story goes on…….
“I suppose that’s right.”
“More than the funny man, you’re like a toddler always getting back up to have another go while they are learning to walk. You won’t stay down, be defeated or give up.”
That’s part of the reason people love you.”
So what’s this story saying to you today?
What lessons about Life can you learn from it?
What can you teach you children from this simple story?
